The current money making test has been going on for almost 48 hours now and holy cow, there's a lot to do! Check out the first entry in this money making journal to get up to speed on the test and affiliate program being used. Basically, I am testing out a niche weight loss affiliate program to see if it lives up to the hype and if I can make any money promoting their products.
So far I don't feel like I've accomplished a whole lot. I did decide that Proactol, one of their two weight loss products, will be the first item I try to promote. With that decided, I poured over website templates in their research center to pick something suitable, then spent over an hour trying to find a domain name that'd work.
The domain name I came up with is HealthyWeightLossPill.com. I know, feel free to smirk - the name seems a bit lame but is the best I could come up with for now. It's tough finding good domains anymore.
I have a couple reasons for picking the name. First, it describes Proactol pretty dang well, so the visitors will know what to expect. Also, it starts with the term "Healthy Weight Loss", which is a highly searched term on Google. And finally, I got tired of searching for domains so I picked one in an attempt to move on to the next steps and keep forward momentum going.
While brainstorming domain names, the computer was busy downloading promotional materials for this weight loss pill I'm about to start selling. I was surprised to find some very helpful info in MoreNiche's resource center and a useful pdf guide geared specifically towards promoting Proactol. To anyone just starting out with affiliate programs and internet marketing, MoreNiche is proving to be a valuable resource of information and support towards making your first sales. Their site seems to have everything you need to start selling, from promotional materials to getting started guides, to nicely designed sights ready to be setup by you. I'm feeling a lot more confident about this program than I was before.
Now on to the next step, the website is currently just a template and needs to be customized to fit my specific ideas. If I leave it as-is and just plug in my affiliate links, not only will Google penalize me for having a crappy, duplicate template site, it's also highly doubtful the site will ever make any money. So I'll need to re-write the titles, articles, reviews, etc. as well as add more content that MoreNiche has provided. The process of making the site unique and custom will take many hours to do, but I think it is important as it will make the site stand out and increase chances of sales.
So that's what I will be doing next - customizing the new affiliate site and making it unique. Once it is ready to start testing, I'll dive into some link building, traffic building, and promotional methods.
